What is your divorce strategy?

When I first meet with clients, I ask them what their goals, needs and wants are. For example, with a spouse who has stayed home to raise children and has stayed out of the workforce may need more funds up front for a shorter period of time while he or she obtains the training or education needed to re-enter the work force. Others may have the need to eliminate debt and would rather have less support or less assets if certain marital debts are paid on their behalf. Whereas some spouses may be considerably older and need more retirement assets versus other assets or income.

Put simply, a cookie cutter, split it down the middle, approach to divorce is not always the best approach to your divorce. An experienced divorce attorney should work with you, discuss and determine what your goals are, and establish an effective divorce strategy.

The purpose of this blog is to provide individuals with information about divorce which commonly come up in consultations. If you plan on consulting with me, please read my comments in preparation of our meeting.
